stlukeschurchSPLASH is on the move. In response to feedback from the families who use our service we are moving to a centre better able to meet the needs of SPLASH children and young people. The Children's Centre at St Luke's Church, Plymouth road has a large main hall, an accessible kitchen, accessible toilets and a space we can transform into a sensory room. Its very near to two public car parks and there are drop off facilities for children with mobility issues. Also great for SPLASH children: its right next door to Victoria Park and Community pool. NB: Move for Easter subject to Ofsted registration and new fences being in place in time - watch this space!
supported by BBC Children in NeedThank you BBC Children In Need for once again supporting the valuable work we do 2016-2017. This year SPLASH is developing a Fee waiving policy to support families in need access our services in times of crisis. To do this we are increasing our community fundraising efforts: If there is anything you can do to help please let us know - you could help on an event; run a cake sale at school, run a marathon or organise a bag pack - all and any help would be greatly appreciated - contact us to get involved.

testimonialWe have recently been exploring the feasibility of developing a fit-for purpose centre for SPLASH in Buckfastleigh. We have concluded that it is feasible, and there are viable options - we have identified two possible sites in the area, and a range of funding opportunities and prospective partners. It will take time and commitment - it’s not a quick win - but it could provide the best outcomes…

  • A state of the art accessible and dynamic indoor and outdoor recreational/play space for SPLASH children and young people.
  • SPLASH children enjoy a different space in their holidays to term time.
  • SPLASH children participate as members of a local community.
  • SPLASH delivers a training programme in partnership with PETROC college that builds and strengthens our workforce.
  • SPLASH contributes to the local economy by providing employment, training and provision for local families.
  • Working in partnership SPLASH grows its offer to provide services for the local community.
  • Staff retention improves as the service grows.
  • SPLASH continues to provide a unique service for SPLASH children.
  • SPLASH is sustained as a parent led organisation in a new form: CIC/CIO…

planning diagramOn 8 Jan 2016, Members of the SPLASH Committee, parents carers, volunteers, staff and David Cox from the Teignbridge CVS came together to consider the views of families who use our service and find a way forward for SPLASH. Everyone worked very hard and practical solutions were found for the problems in hand.

SPLASH will continue to be parent led and extend its offer to support children and young people with additional needs from the age of 0-25 years. In time we want to develop a fit for purpose centre; a new home for the SPLASH family. Right now we want to build our staff team ready for the Easter holidays and invite interested parties to join the SPLASH committee: please contact Kate Tapp e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. Child with maskSPLASH has been accepted onto the PETROC subcontractor framework and is part of their Building Better Opportunities (BBO) consortium round 1 application submitted to the Big Lottery and European Social Action Fund in November 2015. The project submitted to PETROC was inspired by our volunteers and is called Play-able.
